FUNGAL DECAY

There are two types of fungal decay:

Dry rot (Serpula Lacrymans)

Dry Rot - Cuboidal CrackingDry rot is a single species of fungus which infects buildings and because it requires relatively less moisture than its wet rot counterparts, it can spread voraciously throughout the building fabric.

(Image shows dry rot with some cuboidal cracking.)

Wet Rot

A number of species can be found in buildings, the commonest are shown below, causing damage which can be widespread but is often restricted to particularly damp areas.
